About

01 about the lab

Creative Storytelling Lab is a two-week intensive designed for high school students who want to develop a compelling original story and turn it into a portfolio-ready project.

The lab is modeled on a film school–style curriculum, combining storytelling development with hands-on production. Students move through a structured creative process, from idea generation and narrative development to directing, filming, and editing a completed short film.

While the medium is film, the focus extends beyond filmmaking. Students build core skills in storytelling, communication, and creative thinking, while producing a meaningful project they can use for portfolios, applications, and future opportunities. The lab culminates in a Student Film Showcase for peers and parents.

Directing | Screenwriting

Iesh Thapar

Iesh Thapar is a UK-born writer-director and educator working across film, television, and video games. He holds an MFA in Film Directing from Columbia University School of the Arts and has taught screenwriting and narrative at the university level.

His work has screened at international festivals including BFI London Film Festival, Palm Springs ShortFest, and Aspen ShortFest, with support from Sundance Institute and BAFTA. He has also directed performance for major video game titles including Hitman 2, The Division 2, and Watch Dogs: Legion.

His teaching focuses on helping students develop their creative voice through storytelling, directing, and hands-on production.

Producing | Screenwriting

Sarah Oh

Sarah Seulki Oh is an award-winning film producer and educator. She holds an MFA in Creative Producing from Columbia University School of the Arts and has taught filmmaking at the university level, including at the University of Texas at Austin, Columbia University, and Sogang University.

Her films have screened at major international festivals such as SXSW and BFI London, and she has worked on projects for Netflix.

She brings a structured, hands-on approach to teaching, guiding students from initial concept to completed work while emphasizing collaboration, feedback, and creative development.
